Six places you need to take your Porsche 911
The rise in Porsche 911 prices over the last few years has seen many neunelfers spend more time in the garage than out on the road. However, here at Total 911 we feel that you need to get behind the wheel of your Porsche 911 to truly enjoy it.
So, if you want to head out for more than just a simple drive, here are six places you need to take your Porsche 911:
1) Return back home to Zuffenhausen
A road trip back to your Porsche 911’s birthplace is a must for the nostalgia alone. The Porsche Museum at Zuffenhausen takes you through the complete history of Ferdinand’s eponymous manufacturer, complete with a wealth of incredible Porsche machinery on display.
2) A lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife
We’re not suggesting you go trying to emulate Marc Lieb’s ‘Ring lap. If anything, for your first visit to the Green Hell, you shouldn’t push your luck and just do a couple of Touristenfahrten, soaking up the atmosphere and insanity of this incredible venue, home of some of Porsche’s greatest race victories.
3) Display your 911 at a car show
Okay, this one may not involve much driving but, whether you’re the owner of a humble 996 or an iconic Rennsport, people love looking at 911s. Park up at a Porsche-specific show (such as Classics at the Castle) and let your neunelfer soak up the limelight.
4) A trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Le Mans is Porsche’s second home and a 911 is the perfect chariot for a pilgrimage to La Sarthe to watch the world famous 24-hour race. Grab your partner (or a friend) and pack your camping gear for a perfect petrolhead weekend away.
5) Push your limits on a track day
Circuit driving may not be for everyone but, for the majority of later Porsche 911s, a track is the only place where you can truly explore the limits of your car (and yourself). Butzi always wanted the 911 to be the ultimate do-it-all sports car, so use yours as intended.
6) Drive our Great Roads
If, after all that excitement, you just want to head out for a good old fashioned drive, check out our selection of Great Roads, our ever-expanding directory of some of the best blacktop from around the world, hand-picked and driven by the Total 911 team.
