Poll: Which Porsche 991.2 GT3 gearbox would you choose?

At 2:30pm CEST on Thursday 29 September, the PDK-only generation of Porsche 911 GT3 may officially come to an end. We’re expecting the new 991.2 GT3 to be formally launched at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, with Porsche’s press conference scheduled for the afternoon of the event’s first press day.

With today marking 1 September, that means it’s less than a month until the new car – expected to come with the option of six-speed manual gearbox – is unveiled, much to the delight of those who lamented the move to a PDK shifter three years ago.

However, despite the reservations of ‘purists’, the first generation Porsche 991 GT3 has been a huge hit for Weissach; helped by a favourable market, it’s the first of Andreas Preuninger’s creations (GT3 RS 4.0 included) to have traded over list when just a few weeks old.

The 991.1’s mandatory PDK gearbox didn’t put off new buyers (nor those wanting to get in on the action and pay over list in order to jump the queue and get in the driver’s seat), so will buyers really opt for the new six-speed manual option in huge numbers?

If the interest in the Porsche 911 R is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding “yes” but, there are plenty who prefer the extra speed of the PDK system (especially those who use their GT3s on track, as Porsche intended). Which would you choose? That’s what we want to find out in our new poll:
