Deactivating 997 Sport exhaust
An American reader reported a while back that his local OPC locked ‘on’ the switchable Sports exhaust on his 997. This generated some interest and, today, a call from a reader in Ireland reminded me of it.
Apparently, the dealer used a small ball bearing in the system’s vacuum line, which effectively blocks it, meaning that the exhaust is locked on ‘loud’ all of the time. It’s a five minute job that can easily be reversed.
It’s odd that an OPC did this, because all the readers I’ve spoken to who have asked their OPC to do the same, have been told it’s not possible – and that sounds more like an official Porsche line. I’m sure independent specialists would be more willing to help out, though.
