Five Porsche 911s I’m looking forward to driving in 2015 – Josh’s choices

The start of 2015 now feels like a distant memory, providing us with some time to think about the Porsche 911s we’re looking forward to driving in the year ahead. Here are Senior Staff Writer, Josh’s five choices:

Porsche 959
Porsche 959

We wouldn’t be the award-winning magazine that we are without heady aspirations, so I’ll start my list with Porsche’s original hypercar. With the 444hp, four-wheel drive and a host of ‘space age’ Eighties technology, the 959 makes for a salivating prospect that I really want to get my hands on.

Porsche 991 GT3 RS

Those of you with long memories will remember that in August, I said I wasn’t excited by the new 991 GT3 RS. However, after the latest batch of decamo’d spy shots, I can’t wait to experience what is likely to be one of the rawest water-cooled 911s ever built.

Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS

I haven’t driven the most iconic Porsche 911 ever built yet. That’s why I have to get in the driving seat of a 2.7 RS in 2015. It’s beautiful, lightweight and, with my penchant for classic 911s, would be a huge tick off my bucket list. With prices continuing to rocket, it could be a tricky proposition though…

Porsche 997 Carrera Gen1

My first three choices have been particularly exuberant, so here’s something a little more down to earth. I thought about buying a Gen1 997 Carrera last year and, after choosing not to pursue that option, I want to see what I’m missing out on.

Porsche 911 SC

Last week I said the 3.2 Carrera is overrated. It’s the poster boy for the impact bumper era but it doesn’t excite me. Everyone says the 911 SC’s engine is livelier, so I want to find out if that is true by getting behind the wheel of this often forgotten G-Series 911.

2015 is set to be a bumper year for the Porsche 911. Check out what to with our preview of the year ahead now.
