Watch Porsche Museum restore the earliest 911 in their collection

A very special car calls for a very special restoration. And they don’t come much more special than chassis number 57, the oldest Porsche 911 in the Porsche Museum’s collection.

In the first video documenting the Museum’s meticulous restoration, watch as this early Porsche 901 is stripped to a bare shell and the engine handed over to Porsche Classic for a factory rebuild.

We have no doubt the end result will be a stunning testament to the Porsche 911’s storied history, a legacy that is displayed in the numerous incredible cars spotted in the background (like Walter Rohrl’s 1981 San Remo Rally 911 SC).

For fans of more modern Porsches, watch out for a Speed Yellow Cayman GT4 hiding in plain site in the car park, another glimpse at the 911’s next in-house rival.
