Videos: Porsche at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans

Since winning their first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, Porsche have now – thanks to the no. 19 919 Hybrid’s victory on Sunday – won at the famous French classic a record-breaking 17 times.

That means, since Richard Attwood and Hans Hermann triumphed in their 917K exactly 45 years ago, Weissach has a win rate at the Circuit de 24 Heures of an incredible 37 per cent. And that’s including a 14-year absence between 1999 and their return last season.

Porsche’s successes at Le Mans are the stuff of legend and, by helping to make time stand still once again last Sunday afternoon, F1 star, Nico Hülkenberg, Earl Bamber and Total 911 columnist, Nick Tandy have helped to write another chapter of that legend for both themselves and the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 racer.

After such a long wait for their latest triumph, it wasn’t a surprise that emotions came to the surface as the no. 19 car crossed the line for the final time as part of a one-two finish in the world’s most famous endurance race.
