Video: Porsche’s 2015 Le Mans victory documentary

With the 2016 motorsport season finally underway, we’ve caught the race bug again. Therefore, it’s fantastic timing that Porsche has just released a near hour-long documentary looking at its famous 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans victory.

By now, we’re sure you all know crux of the story – the third Porsche 919 Hybrid, driven by Nick Tandy, Earl Bamber and Nico Hülkenberg and known as ‘the rookie entry’, prevailed in the world’s most famous endurance race – however, this film take a broader look at Weissach’s achievement.

Starting at the very beginning of Porsche’s LMP1 programme, the 53-minute documentary takes you through the 919 Hybrid’s development from testing to the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans.

While the English voiceovers are initially a little disconcerting, there are some excellent insights from LMP1 programme Vice President, Fritz Enzinger and Technical Director, Alexander Hitzinger.

There’s also a wealth of archive race footage of both last years Le Mans enduro and from Porsche’s 16 other victories around La Sarthe (including 917s, 936s and 956s).

It may be a little longer than most videos we share with you (and it will certainly eat up most of your lunch break) but this is definitely one film from Porsche that is worth investing your time in.
