Video: Porsche 911 R onboard at Goodwood Festival of Speed

When Porsche comes calling and says, “Do you want to drive a 911 up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed?” you know that you’re in for a special experience. We found that out a few years ago taking a 991 Turbo S up Lord March’s famous hill.

However, for this year’s Festival of Speed, our excitement was turned up to 11 when we were handed the keys to the new Porsche 911 R on Friday morning in readiness for tackling the iconic Goodwood hillclimb.

With a little space to stretch the R’s legs, the course offered a quick-fire test of the new Neunelfer’s analogue charms, the delightfully playful chassis failing to disappoint. We didn’t expect any less though, especially after the effusive praise rewarded to the 911 R in Lee’s first drive review (ready to read in the latest issue).

If it looks like Total 911 Features Editor, Josh is taking it a little too easy in places along the 1.16-mile course, you’d be right. After all, we didn’t want to be the ones explaining to Germany why their ‘000’ number 991 R had an unintentional high-speed encounter with a flint wall!
