Video: how to drive the Porsche 918 Spyder

The 918 Spyder is the most complicated sports car Porsche has ever made. Utilising a combined 887hp from a 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine and two electric motors (one mounted on each axle), there’s much to consider when driving Zuffenhasuen’s flagship hybrid hypercar. So how does a driver get the best from the 918’s scintillating capabilities?

To find out, Total 911‘s editor, Lee, took to the wheel of an example under the guidance of Porsche’s chief 918 driving instructor, Matthias Hoffseummer. Herr Hoffseummer has amassed more than 40,000 kilometres at the wheel of various 918s around the world, so who better to show us 918 novices how to get the most from Porsche’s 887hp hybrid hypercar?
