Video: Behind the wheel of the ultimate Porsche 964 Rennsport
Silverstone Auctions’ upcoming ‘Porsche Sale’ has some incredible 911s set to go under the hammer this weekend. However, there are some that stand out more than others. Lot 345 is one such car: a genuine Porsche 964 Carrera RS NGT.
Taking the already leichtbau 964 RS as its base, the NGT version stripped out even more weight. Readying the car for competition, Porsche removed the sound deadening and front carpets (the latter replaced with plywood footboards) while the usual racing accoutrements – such as a full roll cage – were added into the mix.
Total 911 Editor, Lee (himself no stranger to the 964 RS NGT, having driven one for issue 139’s ‘Super Rare 964s’ cover feature) was invited along recently to get behind the wheel of Silverstone Auctions’ Maritime Blue example.
In this video, Lee takes walk around the 964 RS NGT, explaining all the details that make this particularly pristine Rennsport so revered and so special. And don’t worry, it’s not a purely static film. Our Editor made sure that he got the NGT in motion, just as Porsche intended. Enjoy.
