Tuthill spectacularly release Porsche 911 RGT rally car

Tuthill Porsche, the world-renowned 911 rally preparation specialist, has given its new stage warrior a spectacularly unveiling on the 2014 Harry Flatters Rally, held on the famous Epynt military range roads in Mid Wales.

The 997-based Porsche 911 RGT rally car, built to the FIA’s World Rally Championship GT class specification, was used as the course car on the challenging tarmac rally with Richard Tuthill at the wheel.

“We enjoyed an amazing first day in the Porsche 997 RGT rally car,” explained the 1996 British Junior Rally Champion. “The car lands beautifully from jumps, is incredibly nimble through the narrow tight twisty stuff and hugely competent in the fast sections.”

The 911 RGT was able to run as the course car on the Harry Flatters stages after being given special dispensation by the MSA. The competition mileage has proved invaluable to Tuthill who used the rally to test tyre and setup combinations.

After a positive reception amongst both the public and fellow competitors in the service park, Tuthill is hopeful the MSA will officially recognise the GT class leading to similar cars being used in earnest.

Tuthill Porsche first international event with the 997 RGT will be the unrelenting WRC round in Germany, running from 21 August to 24 August in the Baumholder military range and Mosel wine valley.
