Total 911 issue 118 now on sale

‘Lightweight Superstars’. So reads the major headline on the cover of Total 911 issue 118 and, with our history of Porsche’s weight-saving obsession, documented via road tests of both a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Clubsport and a 996 GT3 RS, it’s clear to see why.

Both red-on-white icons epitomise Zuffenhausen’s attention to detail when it comes to reducing mass in order to improve the driving spectacle, providing 911 enthusiasts with a special kind of flat six experience.

With 17 years separating the Clubsport and Rennsport-monikered sports cars, we wanted to find out if the weight-saving tradition had produced two intrinsically similar 911s.

Also inside, we took three gorgeous Sapphire Blue Porsche 991 Carreras to the demanding roads of North Wales to give Zuffenhausen’s latest incarnation of the rear-engined legend its most thorough workout yet.

Our supertest puts nearly every conceivable 991 Carrera specification to the test, while inside the latest issue you’ll also find a our ultimate guide to the 997 GTS, a classic test drive of the last air-cooled 911, and an explanation of Porsche’s rear-wheel steering technology.
