Porsche lead GTLM class testing at Sebring

Porsche North America Racing’s 991 RSRs have posted the two fastest lap times on the opening day of testing ahead of the Sebring 12 Hours in March.

Joerg Bergmeister topped the times in the #912 RSR, posting 2m00.048s, just ahead of teammate Patrick Pilet in the #911 example who clocked in at 2m00.364s. The encouraging early test times show the works team have continued the momentum from their opening round class win at Daytona.

“We had a little bad luck with our car in the Rolex 24, but overall Daytona was perfect start for our new team,” Bergmeister said. “This is a new car, but we’ve tested here quite bit in the past and our setup was perfect right off the truck.”

Pilet, who drove to victory in the season opener at Daytona with Nick Tandy and Richard Lietz, said: “We’re happy, because it’s always hard to be on the pace at the beginning of a test at Sebring. It was a good day for us. We had no real issues.

“Daytona was a dream week for us, with a new team, a new car and new teammates. Everything worked perfectly. I feel a real key was the hard work by the crew and perfect pit stops.”
