Porsche 991 GT3 investigation update
Porsche’s investigation into the engine problems that have caused two 991 GT3s to catch fire are still ongoing. According to Porsche GB, no further news has been released from Germany at present.
991 GT3 owners were instructed to stop driving their cars three weeks ago after two examples (one in Italy, one in Switzerland) combusted following a catastrophic engine malfunction.
All owners of the 785 new 911 GT3s so far delivered have been given the option of having their cars repatriated to their local Porsche Centre (at Stuttgart’s expense) while the investigation is undertaken. As ever, Total 911 will bring you regular updates as they break.
With the motorsport season beginning to spring into life, one 991 GT3 that is running though is the new GT3 Cup car that will feature in all the national Carrera Cup series in 2014. In this video, Carrera Cup GB driver, Josh Webster talks us through the new racer.
