Frankfurt 2013: Porsche 911 50th anniversary edition

For this week, Total 911 has a distinctly Frankfurter flavour, with the team at the 2013 IAA motor show celebrating 50 years of the Porsche 911. As part of the half-century celebrations, Porsche has today released the 911:50 anniversary edition to the public.

The Porsche 911:50 anniversary edition includes many nods to past, including a modern take on the iconic Fuchs ‘five leaf’ wheels, and chrome slats on the rear deck lid.

Inside the cabin, the leather seats feature new-old-stock Pepita tartan cloth inserts, the same fabric used on the early 911 models.

The 3.8 litre engine transfers its power to the road through the rear wheels only, maintaining the classic Porsche 911 driving experience. The six-cylinder boxer unit sings through quad-tailpipes.

Porsche’s revised 7-speed PDK gearbox is available as an option. It’s seamless shifts blend the retro-inspired aesthetics with Stuttgart’s cutting edge technology.

The car is adorned with the 911:50 emblem, celebrating the birthday of Zuffenhausen’s darling sportscar. The special badge can be found on the rear of the car, as well as on the dashboard dials.

1,963 examples of the Porsche 911:50 anniversary edition will be offered for sale, available in two shades of grey: ‘Graphite’, or the lighter ‘Geyser’.
