Limited edition 911 Sport Classic

Porsche has announced a limited edition model. The 911 Sport Classic will be limited to just 250 examples.

Developed over three years by Porsche Exclusive, the most notable thing about the car is its double-domed roof, which we believe hints at the shape of 911s to come.

Based on the Carrera S, it has widened rear arches, fixed ducktail spoiler, ala 2.7RS, and extra front lip spoiler. The retro theme continues with a set of glorious Fuchs-style alloy wheels. The colour is called Sport Classic Grey.

The interior also harks back to classic times. It’s finished in brown (or Espresso Nature, to use Porschespeak) with unique woven leather and woven yarn seat and door insets. The seats themselves are newly designed sports items.

Power comes from the latest DFI 3.8-litre engine which, thanks to a newly developed resonance intake manifold with six vacuum-controlled switching flaps, has increased in power by 23bhp to 408bhp (which, incidentally, is the same as a 993 Turbo). The power goes through a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential. PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes) and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) are also standard fare.

Sales of the Porsche 911 Sport Classic  start in January 2010. The UK price of the car with 15% VAT is £137,069.
