Brumos Porsche film needs your help on Kickstarter

Just before Christmas, you may have heard the news that the famous Floridian Porsche dealer, Brumos was sold. It is, therefore, perfect timing for independent filmmaker, Derek Dodge, who is planning to produce a documentary about Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood.

The two men – known as Batman and Robin by the motorsport press during the Seventies – are integral in the rise of Brumos Porsche, with their successes on track cementing the Jacksonville-based dealer in the minds of all Zuffenhausen enthusiasts.

However, in order to make the feature film a reality, Dodge is trying to raise the remaining production budget via crowdfunding website, Kickstarter and he needs your help.

The project has already raised $16,127 of its required $35,000 goal but now Dodge’s team has just ten days left to procure the remaining budget to tell the fascinating story of Gregg and Haywood, two leviathans of the US racing scene during the Seventies and Eighties.

The ‘Dynamic Duo’ won all before them stateside (including the Daytona/Sebring double at the wheel of a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR in 1973) before Gregg’s untimely death in 1980 left Haywood as the flagbearer for Brumos’ motorsport activities.

Now, Dodge wants to tell the full stories of these incredible men with the funding received through Kickstarter earmarked for production travel, editing, archival footage and all the other facets required to complete a feature documentary to a releasable standard (planned for the beginning of 2017).

If you want to get involved, check out the film’s Kickstarter page and donate now. You can also read our full interview with Haywood in Total 911 issue 100, available in digital form.
