2016 Total 911 Photo of the Year Award winner announced

Two weeks ago, voting began to choose the 2016 Total 911 Photo of the Year and, through the initial shortlisting stage, it was impossible to tell who would emerge victorious.

However, in the final round of voting (which saw a record 980 votes cast) one shot stormed into a unanimous lead to snatch this year’s accolades. Ladies and gentleman, ‘Champion’s 993 GT2 Evo’ by Dan Pullen is your 2016 Photo of the Year Award winner.

For Pullen – who made the 2015 shortlist but could only finish sixth – this marks his first Photo of the Year triumph and we have to admit that you have all chosen well. Shot for our feature in issue 145, it’s a photo that combines a spectacular subject with dramatic lighting and a good use of set dressing.

In previous years, 106 votes would’ve been good enough for Charles Russell’s ‘997 GT3 RS 4.0 in the Alps’ to take victory however, in the face of record-breaking opposition, it had to settle for second, ahead of ‘964 Carrera versus 993 Carrera’ by Jonathan Fleetwood.

As a ‘thank you’ for voting, you can download the winning shot (above) as a wallpaper for your computer. We’ve uploaded it in hi-res for your viewing pleasure; simply drag it onto your desktop and enjoy.

And, in the interests of transparency, here is the full break down of the final voting:
