The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car has spent the 2013 season racing in the Supercup.

Racing fans will get a chance to check out the new 991-type Porsche 911 GT3 Cup after it was announced that next year’s Carrera Cup GB car would be on display at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC.

For the 12th season of the British Carrera Cup series, it is hoped the new car (used this season in the Mobil 1 Supercup) will attract competitors to the championship after grids dwindled in 2013.

The new car develops 460bhp at 7,500rpm, transmitting its power through a sequential six-speed, dog-ring gearbox. For the first time ever in a Carrera Cup car, gears are selected via paddleshift (as used in Porsche’s FIA GT3-class racers).

Total 911 will be at the Autosport Show to get a good look around the 991 GT3 Cup car.

Porsche Cars GB will use the Autosport Show (running from 9-12 January 2014) to officially launch the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup GB, with championship representatives on hand to take enquiries from any potential teams and drivers.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 will also be displayed on Porsche’s stand, located next to the Autosport main stage. This will provide an opportunity to compare and contrast the road going car with its race-ready cousin.

Total 911 will be at the show, bringing you exclusive photos of all things Porsche, including the 991 GT3 Cup car. However, if you can’t wait that long, check out issue 104 for our look at Ben Barker’s 2013 Supercup challenger.
