The Team Falken 911 GT3 RSR sported a special, fan-designed livery for this year’s Petit Le Mans.
The ALMS has proved a difficult hunting ground for the Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs this season. Prior to the Petit Le Mans, both Team Falken and CORE autosport had secured a best finish of second, but victories were proving elusive.
However, at the 16th running of the Petit Le Mans 1000-mile endurance race this all changed as Team Falken’s driver line-up of Wolf Henzler, Bryan Sellers, and Nick Tandy guided their 911 GT3 RSR to a remarkable win.

Before the race started, the NGT squad drove a lap in honour of the late Sean Edwards, who had driven for the team.For much of the race, Henzler, Sellers, and Tandy had to fend off the attentions of a very competitive GT field.Porsche ace Emmanuel Collard joined Paul Miller’s team, however they struggled for pace.After qualifying eighth, CORE autosport’s charge was stymied by the unpredictable weather.Some well-timed yellows, and slick pit work from the team, helped the Team Falken 911 to victory.Paul Miller Motorsport’s car quickly found itself back in the paddock as the first retirement from the 2013 race.CORE autosport had the pace to run with the leaders, but tyre strategy left them trailing.The wet weather played into the hands of the Porsche, and gave Henzler and Tandy and chance to show their talents.The Flying Lizard team have often found success at Road Atlanta, this time taking victory in the all-Porsche GTC class.CORE autosport will be looking forward to 2014 when they become the Porsche factory team for the new USCR series.Despite the damage from a late collision, Tandy drove a stunning two-hour stint.After a barren year, this was the first US victory for a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, in the last ever ALMS race.
