Win EVO2 battery

Racecarbattery.co.uk, a trading name of Shy Auto Developments Limited, is an automotive parts distributor that was established in 2002. The owner, Clive Haynsford, has a career in motor engineering and racing that spans 30 years, having embarked on an apprenticeship in 1973. The invaluable knowledge that he has gained of racing and race car preparation in a wide variety of disciplines with a wide range of cars is now being passed onto all of his customers, ensuring they receive the correct advice for their vehicles.

After being initially approached by a company at SEMA, the largest Auto Trade Show in the world, selling new style lightweight batteries while searching for new technology, interest was aroused. However, having delved into the subject a bit more, he discovered that most other low-weight alternatives could not be used with conventional on-board charging systems or an ordinary mains battery charger. That is until he stumbled across an American company called Ballistic Performance, who pioneered the application of green, state-of-the-art lithium ferrous energy storage technology, derived from wind farm technology in conjunction with the University of Texas.

Racecarbattery.co.uk has teamed up with Ballistic Performance to launch the super-small, lightweight EVO2 onto the car market, a battery that has amazing storage capabilities over rival lead acid batteries, losing only ten per cent of its power over a year if left unattended compared to ten per cent per month, so no trickle charger is required.

Road or track, where weight matters, the EVO2 provides a cost-effective alternative, offering comparable or superior performance that’s 80 per cent smaller and 10lbs lighter than your stock battery equivalent, leading to an increase in not only performance, but also economy. The sealed construction of the EVO2 makes it leak proof, safe and suitable for mounting in any direction. Moreover, it’s perfect for competition, and the fact that it has been tested extensively by professional race teams gives you additional peace of mind on top of the three-year warranty.

Total 911 has combined forces with www.racecarbattery.co.uk to offer you the chance to win an Evo 2 worth £420. All you have to do is answer this simple question:

What university did Ballistic Performance work in conjunction with?

Send your answer together with your name and address to [email protected] with EVO2 in the subject line before the closing date of 7 November 2012.

How it works?

The EVO2 battery uses custom-designed lithium ferrous phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. The chemistry, originally discovered by a research group at the University of Texas, was subsequently developed for the storage and management of wind generated power. With its relatively low-cost, non-toxic formulation, excellent thermal stability, safety characteristics, good electrochemical performance and high specific capacity, it can deliver an enormous amount of power in a very short time, and then recover very quickly.
