Win a set of Falken tyres

Following our report from the Nürburgring 24 Hours (Issue 89), Total 911 has teamed up with Japanese tyre manufacturer Falken to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a set of tyres. In addition, we will be offering three runner-up prizes of a limited edition 1/43 scale model of the team’s Porsche 997 GT3R N24 racer. Only 500 examples of this highly detailed Minichamps model in N24 specification have been produced.

Falken has been busy developing a range of new performance road tyres for 2012, including the flagship Azenis FK453. This ultra-high performance tyre is offered for the first time as a Y speed rating (for 186mph or 300km/h), making it highly suitable for the 911. True to its strapline ‘racetrack to road’, both Falken’s engineers and race drivers were involved in the development of the tyre, spending considerable time on the Nordschleife to refine its performance.

It has also incorporated technology from its 997 GT3 R race tyres directly into the Azenis FK453 range, a series of tyres that also includes specific derivatives for performance SUVs such as the Cayenne. The valuable lessons learned on the track have enabled Falken to offer significant improvements over it’s previous FK452, a tyre revered by many enthusiasts. Dry handling has been improved by 25 per cent, while handling on wet surfaces is enhanced by 30 per cent, delivering useful gains in control for lane changes and higher speed cornering. Increasing silica content and its strain characteristics offer a larger contact area and better grip for the same tyre diameter, resulting in stronger interaction with the road surface.

For a chance to experience what the Azenis FK453 has to offer for yourself, just answer this simple question: Who is the British driver in Falken’s Nürburgring driver line up? Send your answer together with your name and address to competitions@total911 with Falken in the subject line before the closing date of 10 October 2012.
