Video: Onboard in the new Porsche 911 GT3 R at Daytona
Although Nick Tandy and Frédéric Makowiecki gave the Porsche 991 GT3 R its competition debut at a VLN round last year, the ‘Roar Before the 24’ test at Daytona marked the maiden appearance of Porsche’s new FIA GT3-spec racer in the hands of customer teams.
The new 911 GT3 R proved competitive at the three-day test with works driver, Patrick Long topping the times straight out the box for Black Swan Racing in Friday’s first session.
However, it was the no. 22 Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R that set the fastest GTD class lap time during the test, lapping in 1m47.852s during the sixth session on Sunday. Now, thanks to US motorsport magazine, Racer, you can ride onboard with Keen as he blasts around the Daytona International Speedway. Enjoy.
