Upgrade your used Porsche 991 for the cost of a used 911

This year, Porsche’s Tequipment department celebrates its 20th birthday. To celebrate, Zuffenhausen has decided to give them free reign in the rejuvenation of a second-hand, 2011 model year Porsche 991 Carrera S.

The team has taken the opportunity to showcase its skills and upgrade the first-gen 991 C2S with a number of options, including the Powerkit (bringing a 30hp boost) as well as carbon-backed bucket seats and plenty of Alcantara trimming.

However, when we totted the full cost of the work up (including installation, assembly, painting and VAT) the total came to a barely believable €46,301.01, the equivalent today of just under £35,000.

You can get Porsche to fit all this to your 991 Carrera S. Or you could buy a 997 Carrera S for less.

You can check out all the prices in the table below but, for the same money you could easily find a really nice Porsche 997 Carrera S to join your 991 C2S in the garage.

In fact, in the UK, the difference between the cheapest 991 Carrera S and the most expensive currently offered through Porsche Approved Used is £33,855, less than the cost of this work.

So, instead of adding clear glass brake lights, you could sell your current Porsche 991 and upgrade to a newer, better specced version for less than Tequipment will charge you for this (admittedly comprehensive) work list.
