Porsche to reveal 919 Hybrid LMP1 at Geneva

Members of the public will be given their first glimpse of the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show as part of Porsche’s focus on its world motorsport efforts at the annual auto extravaganza.

From 6-16 March, the car that will take Porsche back to Le Mans in 2014 will be given its world premiere on Porsche’s stand in Hall 1, flanked by the 2014 Porsche 911 RSR that will compete in the GTE-Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The hybrid prototype racer will be revealed to public during a press conference at the show on 4 March at 8:20 (CET). You can tune in live via the ‘Mission 2014’ page on Porsche’s website.

More details of Porsche's FIA WEC GTE-Pro campaign should be confirmed on 4 March.

The reveal follows Porsche’s announcement of how it will split its 919 drivers during the 2014 season. Car #14 will be piloted by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, and Marc Lieb, while Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley, and Timo Bernhard will be behind the wheel of the #20 919 Hybrid.

If motorsport isn’t your thing, Porsche will be giving the new 991 Targa 4 its European debut at Geneva. You can read all about its innovative electric roof in issue 110 of Total 911.

As ever, Total 911 will bring you all the news from Geneva as it breaks, including any information on the full driver line-ups of the 911 RSRs that will partner the 919 Hybrids during the 2014 FIA WEC season.
