We love wide 911s and this really looks great – especially from the rear. It’s the new GT3 R racecar which replaces the GT3 Cup S for racing in International GT motorsport..

Vital statistics include a 4.0-litre engine that produces 480bhp, a weight of just 1200kg and a six-speed sequential gearbox.

The car boasts widened front and rear arches and, says Porsche, an anti-lock braking system, traction control and an electronic throttle with ‘blip’ function on gearbox down-changes make it easier for drivers to get used to this new GT3 race car than its predecessor, so it is also more appropriate for the ambitious amateur racing driver rather than purely experienced professionals.

The GT3 R will be launched at the Autosport show in Birmingham on 14th January 2010. The base price is 279,000 euros (about £250,000). Form an orderly queue…
