997 GT2 RS details leaked

Details of the forthcoming 997 GT2 RS are flying around the internet, in advance of the official launch of the car next week

Details of the forthcoming 997 GT2 RS are flying around the internet, in advance of the official launch of the car next week.

If the rumours are to be believed, the limited edition GT2 will be based on the Turbo but, as with previous GT2s, will be rear-wheel drive only. Power is said to be 620bhp (an astonishing jump from the Turbo’s 500bhp) with a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200mph.

The ‘RS’ badge gives a hint to the car’s characteristics. It’ll be a track-orientated machine with lightweight RS-style interior and rollcage. The weight saving is thought to be 90kg.

Suspension will also be track-focussed and fully adjustable. The front track is widened, as per 997 GT3RS.

Production is believed to be limited to just 300 examples. Expect to pay over £200,000 for the privilege of owning this most extreme 997.

More details to follow as we confirm them.
