Frankfurt Motor Show preview

Jubiläumsmodell 50 Jahre 911

50 years after the Porsche 901 was unveiled to the public at the 1963 IAA show in Frankfurt, Porsche will be back to celebrate as the Porsche 911 reaches its half-century.

The Porsche 911 50th anniversary edition that Total 911 revealed in issue 102 will be given its grand unveiling to the public at the motor show, which opens on Tuesday 10 September.

The car takes many of its styling cues from the 901 model displayed 50 years ago, including a modern interpretation of the classic Fuchs ‘five-leaf’ wheels, and chrome strips on the fins of the rear deck lid.

Further nods to the past include the Pepita tartan pattern used to cover the centre of the leather seats.

911 Turbo S Coupé

Also, displayed on Zuffenhausen’s stand will be the Porsche 991 Turbo and Turbo S, shown to the public before it is released for sale later this month.

To find out more about the new Turbo models, issue 105 of Total 911 – available online and in shops from 11 September – includes the first drive of both models, where we investigate if the S is worth the extra premium.

After appearing unclothed at the Nurburgring recently, it is rumoured that Porsche will also unveil the new Turbo Cabriolet in Frankfurt.

Total 911 will be at the show and will be bringing you regular updates online of all the 911 action as it unfolds.
