My Dad purchsed a 2005 997 in April 2010 with just 30,000 kms on the vehicle, 7,000 kms and 9 months later, the car requires a new engine. I have read through the comment board on the 996/997 engine failures. Has anyone in Canada had luck with getting compensation from Porsche? He is looking at almost $25,000 in repairs for a refurbished Porsche engine. Given it is evident Porsche is aware of this manufacturer’s defect, what recourse does he have? This is his third Porsche in 15 years and the 997 was his 70th birthday present to himself. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I was just looking some advice please. The yellow emission control warning light has just come on in my car and Im not too sure what this means. The computer on the dash says “check engine – contact workshop”. Reading some of the comments about engine failures etc has left me quite worried. I have a 2006 911 Carrera S cabrio with 46k miles. The car has been running well up to this point and it is serviced at Porsche Belfast. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Stuart
